Diversey Harbor area (2800 N.) on the northside is really an extension of Lincoln Park and DePaul in many ways. The borders of these areas join and overlap each other to form a large community which is very popular.
The park here offers the Diversey Harbor for which the neighborhood is named. There are many opportunities for fun along the lake and harbor. The lakefront is a popular destination in the summer, and many locals take advantage of lakefront biking and jogging paths along Lake Michigan. Others simply come to watch the sun set over the city. The area here offers the Diversey Yacht Club, tennis courts, miniature golf, and lots of wide open green spaces. Kayaking can also be enjoyed from here with a good launching point at Diversey Harbor. In addition, there are public boat ramps located here for motor boating and jet skiing.
The magnificent harbor and access to the lake attract many people to the area. Housing options include contemporary townhouses and condos, Victorian three-flats, walk-ups and towering high-rises overlooking Lake Michigan and Lincoln Park. From historic homes to modern high rises, there is something for almost everyone. The new construction of townhouses complement the vintage homes and smaller apartment buildings to maintain the neighborhood feel.
Nearby is the Lincoln Park Zoo, cultural activities, community theater as well as the famous Second City and Steppenwolf Theaters. There is DePaul University, shopping, cinema, and some of the city's most popular restaurants and nightclubs, Fullerton Avenue and Oak Street Beaches, Chicago Historical Society, and the Academy of Sciences. Entertainment of all forms thrives in this north side area. Coffee bars, restaurants and boutiques continue up the main streets.
Transportation is excellent with easy access to the Loop being a few "L" stops away.
